James Donald Jenkins

James Donald Jenkins, a compassionate and generous soul, was born on December 17, 1969, in Chicago, IL, and passed away on May 1, 2023. His boundless creativity and ambitious spirit touched the lives of all who knew him, leaving a lasting impression that will be cherished for generations. A lifelong resident of Merrillville, Indiana, James was known for his kind heart and willingness to give his last to someone in need. His creative ideas, which he fearlessly pursued, led him to achieve many of his big dreams. James was always eager to share his knowledge and insights with others, making him not only a mentor but also a beloved friend to many. One of James's proudest moments was the birth of his beautiful daughter, Njari Gayles, whom he loved dearly and often boasted about. James is survived by his daughter, Njari Gayles; his siblings, Felicia, Kathy, and Louis Jenkins; as well as his nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, and a host of cousins. He is preceded in death by his mother, Katherine Jenkins, and nephew, Louis L. Knowles. James will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him, but his legacy will live on in the hearts and minds of those he inspired.
