Our founder, Jesse Pettway, is more than just a Funeral Director—he is a husband, father, Firefighter Paramedic, and passionate advocate for both his community and the funeral profession. Jesse’s commitment to service goes beyond his day-to-day responsibilities; it is woven into the very fabric of who he is.
A Life of Service and Dedication
Jesse Pettway has built his life around service. As a full-time Firefighter Paramedic with the City of Chicago, he works tirelessly to save lives and provide emergency medical care. His work as a Funeral Director brings him to families in their most vulnerable moments, where he offers comfort, guidance, and support. Jesse’s experience navigating the demands of two high-stress professions allows him to approach each family’s needs with the highest level of care, attention, and respect.
Jesse’s commitment to others is deeply personal. A loving father to 11 children, he has faced the heart-wrenching loss of two children at young ages. This profound experience gives him a unique understanding of grief and the delicate, sensitive nature of funeral care. His own journey through loss has shaped his unwavering dedication to helping others during their times of need.
Mentorship and Advocacy for the Next Generation
Beyond his work in funeral service, Jesse is a mentor and advocate for aspiring Funeral Directors. As an honors graduate of Malcolm X College's Mortuary Science Program, he’s passionate about guiding students on their journey toward licensure. Understanding the challenges that come with this career path, Jesse developed an innovative study program—NBE Exam Prep—that has helped countless students pass the National Board Exam (NBE) on their first try. He’s not just a tutor; he’s a coach and mentor, sharing the strategies that led to his own success.
Jesse also gives back to the community by volunteering on boards that advocate for the well-being and development of our youth. His involvement in these initiatives reflects his belief in building a stronger future for the next generation, just as he has worked to build a stronger foundation for his own family.
